Trackside Systems/Controls Engineer

Your mission
Primary functions: 
  • Calibration, monitoring and control of off car systems both in garage and on grid
  • Handling of performance/controls calibration and being responsible for the consistent documentation thereof
  • Responsible for downloading all car data and the management of this data
  • Responsible for the general car health status of all electric and electronic systems
  • Responsible for telemetry data management
  • Assisting in reports detailing faults and problems encountered
  • Responsible for simulator and rig calibration and data download
 
Secondary functions:
  • Support the development of embedded systems and procedures to ensure vehicles remain on the leading edge of performance while operating in a safe and efficient manner across a range of test and track facilities
  • Preparation of test harnesses to support test requirements
Your profile
Key Skills:
  • Experienced in working around and on high voltage electric vehicles systems
  • Proficient in the configuration and debugging of CAN based vehicle networks
  • Experienced in the programming, configuration and operation of Vehicle Control Modules and Sensors
  • Knowledge of MATLAB Simulink and Stateflow for the purpose of debugging and testing embedded systems
  • Ability to follow test and race procedures and report the results in an accurate and timely manner
  • Proficient in the use of MATLAB/Python and ATLAS for the purpose of test data analysis
  • Basic knowledge of CAN diagnostic tools is a plus (CANalyzer, PCAN)
  • Building and field repair of basic electrical wiring harnesses and being familiar with motorsport wiring harness standards
  • Fault diagnosis and reporting
 
Experience & Qualifications:
  • An engineering degree from a leading university or similar qualification is essential, but your skills, experience, ability to learn, energy and attitude are most important
  • Thorough knowledge of control systems in top level motorsport or aerospace
  • Conversant with engineering software, calibration & data analysis tools
  • Ability to interpret source code functionality developed in graphical & text-based languages
  • Excellent communicative and collaborative skills
  • Ability to maintain high standards & attention to detail whilst being able to work with limited supervision and to tight deadlines
  • Proficiency in all core Microsoft Office applications
  • Self-motivation and the ability to complete tasks with minimal guidance, and to work under pressure to meet critical deadlines
  • A creative and proactive approach to problem-solving, along with good attention to detail
  • Flexible attitude to working hours
  • To follow and actively enforce the company’s health and Safety and HV policies
